Fellare

An experiment in interpersonal and social boundaries.

A series of mixed-media works showing friends and acquaintances performing fellatio on the artist. The images are only visible at specific angles, appearing as a solid, black rectangles from other view points.

The idea for this project has been kicking around in my head for a couple of years, but I keep losing my nerve. In finally attempting to execute the series, I am attempting overcoming my fear of rejection and facing the consequences of bold (or unconventional) choices.

Is it possible, in light of American culture and sexual repression, to invite friends to perform a sexual act, without changing the preexisting relationship? Can the act be performed without creating any expectations in either participant (false, or otherwise)? Does the very act of asking change the relationship?
