Cover of Authority![]() A composite image of 100 uniformed peace officers that were photographed taking part in the raids on #OccupyOakland from Oct 25th, 2011 to Nov 3rd, 2011. A large number of departments were involved, including (but not limited to): Oakland Police Dept., Alameda County Sheriff's Dept., San Mateo County Sheriff's Dept., Contra Costa County Sheriff Dept., Concord Police Dept., Palo Alto Police Dept., Union City Police Dept., San Leandro Police Dept., and Hayward Police Dept. Some of the officers involved on the Nov 2nd/3rd assault were caught covering their names and badge numbers with tape, a clear violation of California Penal Code Section 830.10: Any uniformed peace officer shall wear a badge, nameplate, or other device which bears clearly on its face the identification number or name of the officer. The "less-than-lethal" weapons and crowd control techniques used by the police against #OccupyOakland were employed in a fashion that violates the military rules of engagement for use of force, including the use of beanbag shots and rubber bullets against non-violent, compliant protesters. The People grant a certain amount Authority to The Government, for establishing and maintaining The Common Good. When Crimes are committed against The People under the cover of said Authority, the contract between The People and The Government is voided, and The Government must be held responsible for said Crimes. |
